On a quiet night at Lou’s Bar, two kindred spirits seek solace as they navigate changing times and relationships past. Stella and Lou is an intimate exploration of friendship, forgiveness, and the longing for companionship that grows with the passage of time.

All are 1 pm indoor performances at Grizzly Peak Winery. Wednesdays—Sundays, March 11-29. The performance runs 105 minutes with no intermission. $40 ($45 at door).

Meet the Artists

Bruce Graham (Playwright)
Bruce Graham’s plays include Burkie, Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar & Grille, Moon Over the Brewery, Minor Demons, Belmont Avenue Social Club, The Champagne Charlie Stakes, Desperate Affection, Coyote on a Fence (Winner of The Rosenthal Prize, Two Drama Desk Nominations – the West End production starred Ben Cross) According to Goldman, Dex and Julie Sittin' in a Tree and The Outgoing Tide (which starred John Mahoney and Rondi Reed). Graham recently returned to acting, playing Lenny in his play Any Given Monday, which won the 2010 Barrymore Award for Best New Play. His one man show, The Philly Fan, plays semi-continuously throughout the Philadelphia area. Something Intangible won seven 2009 Barrymore Awards including Best New Play. His film credits include "Dunston Checks In," "Anastasia" and "Steal This Movie." T.V. Movies: "Hunt for the Unicorn Killer," "The Christmas Secret," "Ring of Endless Light" (Humanitas Award Winner for Best Children’s Screenplay), "Right on Track," "Tiger Cruise," "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Trading Christmas." Television: "Roseanne," "Leg Work" and various soap operas. Graham has received grants from the Pew Foundation, the Princess Grace Foundation (Statuette Award Winner) the Rockefeller Foundation and the Philadelphia Theatre Initiative. He is a two time winner of the Edgerton Foundation Award for Best New Play. Along with Michele Volansky he is the author of the book, The Collaborative Playwright. Graham is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He teaches film and theatre courses at Drexel University and lives in South Philly with his wife Stephanie, daughter Kendall and beagle Truman.

Michael J. Hume (Lou)

Michael is on RTC’s advisory council and is the moderator for Tuesday Talks. He acted in a reading of August: Osage County and has directed Heisenberg, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Tiny Beautiful Things for RTC. Locally, he has directed productions at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Southern Oregon University, Ashland High School, Oregon Cabaret Theater, and the Ashland New Plays Festival. Michael has also directed at Capital Rep, Palace Theater, Lexington Conservatory, Liberty State Company, among others. He is a member of the Society of Directors and Choreographers. As an actor, Michael has been at OSF for 29 seasons. He has performed at the American Conservatory Theater, Portland Center Stage, Seattle Rep, South Coast Rep, Kennedy Center, Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Hartford Stage, Guthrie Theatre, and The Manhattan Theatre Club, among others. With his writing partners Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner, Michael wrote Dog Park and They Came From Way Out There! (OCT, Milwaukee Rep, Artists Rep) Allie Kazan and the Magic Mansion and an Irish Christmas musical, Parcel From America, which opened in Dublin in 2022 with a full Irish cast and music ensemble. www.parcelfromamericamusical.com

Henry Woronicz (Director)

Henry joins RTC again after directing Ripcord last season and the 2024 staged reading of August: Osage County. He is a nationally recognized actor, director, producer, and teacher.  He was the Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival from 1991-1995.  His directing credits at OSF include Hamlet, The Rehearsal, Pravda, The Glass Menagerie, Cymbeline, All’s Well That Ends Well, La Bete, Other People’s Money, The Second Man, Henry IV, Part II, Romeo and Juliet, Master Harold…and the Boys, and Sea Marks.  He has also directed at the Utah, Alabama, Illinois, and Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festivals, the Boston Shakespeare Company, the Seattle Shakespeare Company, the Meadow Brook Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, and the Delaware Theatre Company. Henry’s Broadway acting credits include Trebonious in Julius Caesar at the Belasco Theatre, with Denzel Washington.  Among his many regional acting credits include the title roles in Macbeth, Richard III, Hamlet, Henry VIII, Cyrano de Bergerac, and Peer Gynt, as well as Mark Rothko in Red, The Poet in An Iliad, the Duke in Measure for Measure, Leontes in The Winter’s Tale, Antony in Antony and Cleopatra, Falstaff in Henry IV, Part I, Prospero in The Tempest, Torvald in A Doll’s House, Part 2, and Malvolio in Twelfth Night. Henry has performed at the La Jolla Playhouse, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, American Players Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre, Center Stage,  the American Repertory Theatre, Syracuse Stage, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, and the American Conservatory Theatre, among others. He has been a guest star on numerous television series, including, Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, Ally McBeal, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: TNG, Third Rock from the Sun, Frasier, Cheers, with recurring roles on Seinfeld and Moesha, and was a featured actor in the films, Living Out Loud, Primary Colors, The Good Catholic, Ms. White Light, Looking for Lola, and Little Pieces. In 2008-2009, he has also served in a consulting capacity as Executive Producer of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. From 2009-2012 Henry was on the faculty of Illinois State University as an associate professor in the School of Theatre, heading the MFA acting program, and from 2014-2017 he was a visiting professor in the Department of Theatre and Drama and Contemporary Dance at Indiana University.  

Linda Alper (Stella)

Linda was last scene at RTC in the reading of August: Osage County. In 25 seasons at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Linda has appeared in over 50 productions, including Into the Woods, The Importance of Being Earnest, Wit, Indecent, Tartuffe, Humble Boy and Saturday, Sunday, Monday!, which she also co-translated.  Other OSF writing projects include The Three Musketeers, Napoli Milionaria!, Tracy’s Tiger and Great ExpectationsShanghai, her original play, has been chosen for development by Artists Repertory Theatre, LaunchPad, San Diego Rep, Desert Island Studios and Portland Shakespeare Project. As a Resident Artist at Artists Rep in Portland, Linda played leading roles in The Children, Doll’s House Part Two, The Quality of Life, The Cherry Orchard and many others.  She has also appeared at Portland Center Stage, Intiman, Off Broadway, Cincinnati Playhouse, Seattle Rep, Baltimore Center Stage, Portland Shakespeare Project, Rogue Theatre Company and others.  A Fulbright Senior Scholar in Taiwan, Linda was also a Fulbright Specialist Grantee in Pakistan.  She won a US Embassy Cultural Affairs that brought Pakistani artists to the OSF Greenshow, a Dramalogue Best Actress Award and Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship.  She is a graduate of The Juilliard School.
